Venustus Cichlid Gender?

Anyone know how to tell them apart since they dont have the coins & it gets a lil hard to tell if ones colors are fuller/brighter..

do you have a picture of the one in question? I picked up one months ago hoping it to be male, it already had the yellow stripe on its head. after a while I started to question it because it never changed anymore, finally at about 5 inches his face started to turn blue and in certain light you could see a blue shine on the rest of his body. venting may be another option if you can do it.

it looks like a decent sized fish so i'm going to say female.
