UV will not effect a cycle, Although can't you turn it off anyway?

UV will slow down one's cycle if you are doing a pne where you are adding a bottled bacteria starter or if you are squeezing out cycled media onto the water. Normally, you would turn off your UV for these methods and turn it back on in a day or two. In addition, I would also suggest turning off a UV if you are cycling without any form of seeding as the initial arrival of any bacteria in your tank would be via the water column.

Once the bacteria has had a chance to attach to a solid surface, the UV is no longer a threat.

I can see the bacterial ooze building up on surfaces but still getting higher than normal Nitrite readingsget high enogh to do water change after 2 days
no uv for 5 days

Not sure if its any help, but My ammonia was gone in 12hours for a week or so but nitrites were Off the scale.  50% water changed last night and now Nitrites are 0ppm.
I dosed upto 4ppm ammonia last night after Water change also.
