Upgrade Lighting?

Hi guys,

I have had my fluval roma 90 for about a year now. In that time i have gone through quite a lot of plants. They dont seem to last long.

I have set up a timer so that the tank now gets 10hours of light a day. 3 of my plants have now lasted about 2-3 months and looking healthy but 2 others are starting to die.

The current lighting is:

One Power-Glo Fluorescent Aquarium Tube 15W 45.72cm (18in) T8
One Aqua-Glo Fluorescent Aquarium Tube 15w 45.72cm (18in) T8

My question is, is it a case of my lighting is not on for long enough, my bulbs aren't strong enough or the plants i am buying need CO2? or generally all 3?

Any help would be really appreciated!

Do you dose ferts? this could be your problem.

i put in some plant food when i do a water change but its not really measured. I do this probs once a fortnight.

You could be buying high-light and ferts/co2 plants for your low-tech tank.

It is also faily low light for that size tank.

What plants do you have? Some plants need more light than other with moderate light being 2W for every tank gallon and 3-4W/G being high light.

The lights are what came with the tank as part of the package.

I have no idea what the plants are, so i have taken some pics:

The plants in the top pick are doing fine. They've been in a while now. The one to the right it shooting up. It was half the size when i got it.

These two are at the back of the tank, and as you can see, some of the leaves are decaying.

I tried some xmas moss in there but it eventually died after a month or so.

Would it be worth putting in some stronger bulbs then?

Remove the weights etc, strip off the dead emmersed leaves, plant them up properly and start feeding a quality fert.
