Update on how my tank is doing so far. I switched from gravel to a fluorite and sand substrate. Added a few live plants. They seem to be doing ok . I added root tabs. I add flourish fert twice a week . Might even add clay balls at some point. I noticed some new growth on one sward plant so something is happening. I added 6 angel fish and two speckled cat fish. They all seem to be doing good. Not hanging in corners and hiding as much. They know when feeding time. They follow me as I move from side to side of tank. It's a 55 gallon so might add a couple more fish at some point.

What are the dimensions of your tank BTW?

Just for your info just in case you did not know. Angel fish need a high tank, IMHO minimum of 55cm or 24inches high.
This is mainly due to their long fins and if the tank is too shallow, they cannot swim comfortably.

Can't wait to see it when the plants have all grown in!
me to.I would like a few more but I do not want to have to add co2. I do not want to over populate with plants so I have to add co2. But maybe as I get better with live plants and hopefully these ones live I can add more.

Thats cool, was just asking as i found it difficult to figure from your pic. Hope that question did not offend you in any way.

Look forward to seeing how your tank progresses and plants grow out etc, will be pretty stunning i reckon.

no not at all I am glad for any and all help and suggestions to help take care of my pets. I would like to get a piece of slate to lean on wall for them but not sure where to get one. Just my home improvement store and soak it for ever. Is there some place online ???

I wouldn't worry too much about having to add CO2, worst come to worst, the only thing necessary would be a fertiliser like flourish.
As long as you stick to low-tech plants they'll be fine with that :)
