Hi all, not been about for a bit as I discovered I'm pregnant, so 24/7 nausea and tiredness didn't really leave me with much enthusiasm for anything else
Anyway, my OH has been very helpful in doing the tank maintenance for me, which has increased his enthusiasm in it, so has been good for both of us :good:

On the fish front, I have a Firemouth in the big tank now. We put the FM and one of the Geos I got who had HITH into my 50g until his head healed. He was being bullied by the other Geo, so wanted to give him a stress free environment to heal. Unfortunately he turned into a little sh^t in the other tank, chasing my Ram  Anyway, he's gone back in the big tank now.
All is OK in there, and they get along pretty well. It's a lot of cichlids in a 'small' space, but seems to work. For now anyway.

My Rotkeils are stunning now. The biggest is nearly as big as my Green Sev, and has stunning colours. Unfortunately they are quite camera shy, so wasn't able to get any decent pics. You can get an idea of the beautiful blue face, the red starting to show and the yellow/orange fins.

Here's some pics:

Yay! Welcome back ChilliPepper. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Glad to see an update (hope you didnt mind the request). Wowza your rotties are looking stunning. I actually went and collected three from Lesley (Star4) the other day also, can't wait for mine to come up colouration as yours have. Simply beautifull.

I think i'm with you on your Jack sexing. Blue face, roundish belly and a dorsal fin that isnt as elongated as you'd expect on a male. I'm confident in saying female too. Beautifull colouration on her. I find with dempseys they either grow up ugly, or good looking. There isnt much of an inbetween...but yours is a good looker for sure!

Boris hasnt eaten your bichirs yet then  I've become a big fan of these in the last 2-3 weeks, bought myself an armoured bichir. I'm in love haha :p

Loving the tanks, and the inhabitants. Hopefully won't be the last update, least not for as long as last time :good:

Glad to see you back online Chilli :)

Congratulations!! I was wondering where you had been.

Lovely pics, the rottie babies look great, the top pic looks like a male and the one under a female from what I can see. Nice to see Mr Orange & Boris looking so well.

Thanks both of you :D

The JD is pretty chilled out. The Nic and her sometimes have a tiff, but it's nothing much.

I'm glad I have at least one male and female Rottie  The biggest one is defo male, but he was being very camera shy. He came out as soon as I put the camera away

Verminator - I saw your little ones on your thread, very cute. It's lovely watching them grow up and colour up :D

Congrats on the baby that's so great :) keeping fish kept me from going nuts when I was waiting to give birth. I gave me something to keep my mind off the wait at the end.

The photos are awesome. Thanks for sharing they all look great.

Loos like male and female rots male red spot and female green severum. Keep us up to date on how they all get along it will be interesting to see.

COngrats on the pregnancy, although nauseas is no fun !

Your OH is obviously doing good work with the tank, as it is looking pristine !!

Lovely pics too ! .... a billion times better than the awful blurred, low resolution cellphone images that some folks seem to think their fish worthy of !
Are they with a DSLR or a compact ?

Thanks :D

I am back to doing the tanks now, along with OH ;) An extra pair of hands certainly helps a lot, though he does try and interfere with the tank layout

I always thought my Green was a female too, she and Mister O have always got along very well. She had some 'time out' in the 50g a couple of months ago as she was being a c%w bag to the Rotties, and when she came back she decided she had missed the larger tank so much she'd behave  Mister O is second in 'command' and she was accepted straight back in. Mister O missed her I think. She isn't the best coloured of fish, but is generally peaceful and now gets on well with the Rotties. Amazing what some 'time out' can do isn't it?

Photos are taken with a DSLR, but just using a standard 18-55mm lens. Very hard taking photos of fish, they just won't keep still

congrats on the pregnancy!!

the fish look stunning, great pics wish my camera would take pics like that

:good:
