I was away at school, and my parents aren't big on helping with my tank outside of feeding the fish. I got home this week and my tank has been overrun by this thick dark hair-like algae on everything! My algae eater won't touch it, and it's growing off of everything in the tank. Any suggestions? It's latched onto everything pretty solidly. I tried to yank some off a rock and it brought the rock with it.

My tank is a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium with an algae eater, a few glofish, and a few neon tetras.

glofish as in died fish??

can u post a pic, sounds like poss bga

looks like green algae that is dying in spots

Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? I pulled the plant parts that had it on there, but the stationary objects are being difficult. It's growing on the tube to my filter a bit, and I tried scrubbing it off with very little success. It's stuck on there pretty well. My pleco won't eat it. Is there anything I can put in the tank to kill it off that won't kill all the plants in my tank? Or should I pull the pieces out and soak them in something?
