I had a big pleco take 1/4 inch off a still living bluegill once. Last time I over-wintered my pond customer's pleco in my aquarium. I just have bristlenose and one clown pleco.

Indeed. They also make good eating apparently.

I have an unresolvable pet peeve here. I hate it when you check the new posts, and hit a few in a row where there is nothing to be done for the fish. The problem is untreatable and it seems wrong to leave the poor fishkeepers spending money only to make an unfortunate fish more unfortunate from extra stress or meds.

There are days when the forums make me feel like a publicist for the grim reaper.

Along with a lack of knowledge that is one of the reasons I don't get involved in a lot of diagnostic threads.

The thread started 3 years and 170 pages ago, but that question of mean neons has never been resolved. All I can figure is the tank was too small. My neons were always peaceful little things.

That was a classic unpopular opinion though, with no backup and no explanation.

Y'all seem to be having an existential crisis over cycling products, but I dropped in a few zebra danios, a handful of plants, and used stability as recommended and was cycled in 2 weeks. Never had any problems, fish were active and colorful as can be, and growing fast too.

Well done

Yea ive been witness to it I find it hilarious. "Just change 90% of your water every day on your brand new tank your fish will be fine".. may take 3 years for your tank to finally cycle but hey your fish are alive amirite?😆😆

Not bright enough to have an opinion, unpopular or otherweise on the subject of Tropical Fish. BUT

I have an unpopular opinion on lake trout. In summer lakers are best caught by scraping the bottom of the lake with an ols anchor followed by a long line downrigger over the scraped area close to the bottom. Lose a lot of tackle, catch a lot of large lakers.

Pedantry alert…

If any herbivorous fish has lost its gut bacteria it will eat the poo of other herbivores to replenish them. Baby plecs eat their parents poo to acquire them.
How ingenious! I wonder why more humans haven’t made this a trend. It eliminates the need for a doctor to perform a fecal transplant and satisfies hunger simultaneously.

I can think of some fast food places that may just have this down. Deep fried with a bread crumb coating, sweet sauce - yeah, it could sell.

OK, I'm a rookie and I figured I'd have some losses so I bought 12 green neons. All the pretty little turds lived. They are not nice to my elderly Beta... not harm her mean but like "Ha! Made you flinch!" kind of mean and I think they are getting chubby from eating baby shrimp all night. How am I supposed to adjust for that? But if you want stir the pot content.... I saw baby polar blue tigers at my LFS. I want them. I understand it is wrong to mix a mean convict with a tiny mouthed Frankenstein but darn it, the want is still there.
