Ok so in my 36 gallon tank, I have some rasbora, a gourami, a rose line shark and an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey. I got the JD on an impulse when the guy at the store told me he'd be fine in a 36 gallon tank. Not so. I tried, but after a couple months now, he's just too nippy with the other fish. I'm going to the store to get rid of him tomorrow.

My problem is this... I've noticed that ever since the JD has been aggressive, my gourami and shark have also started chasing the rasboras. Will this stop after I get rid of the JD? Am I going to have to get rid of them too?

I just want to have a nice calm community tank again.

I think you have upset the hierarchy of the tank by removing the JD and the gourami is battling for top spot. Also when you say roseline shark do you mean denison barbs? As these are a schooling fish that get to 6 inches, again these need a bigger tank idealy a 4ft tank but if its a rainbow shark arguably a 3ft tank is the minimum so you might be okay with it long term.

Which Rasbora and Gourami are they mixed with in there?

With the EBJD they are a popular fish at the moment because of how colourful they are. And because they are colourful they carry a big price tag so people are keen to sell them. IMO JDs need a 4ft tank or bigger, theres a bit of a reason they are named after a boxer ;)

From what I understand JD is a nippy fish and the pet stores never recommended to mix them with medium aggressive fish. You could try to make the tank work by putting a volcano or other ornament for the JD to hide in. Don't get any fish that will ever fit in a JD mouth for that matter either. Once you get fish nipping fins off, it is a good idea to pre-treat for tail rot and fungal/bacterial infections as well if the nip is bad.
