Ugh! Stalk Came Off New Banana Plant

So this is my first live plant I've bought to put in my new tank. I just got it home, gently rinsed it off, and the whole stalk just fell off. It was only 2-3 inches big. Will it be ok or will it die because there are now no leaves. I was so excited to put my first live plant in and now this. I couldn't be more disappointed. Maybe I should just take it back and exchange it.

You got any pictures as usually if there are no leads or roots then the stem will die but if a stem with roots or with leads on they will survive don't need both just one or other I find
