Guys, sorry to dominate this forum this week :(

I want to add an air-stone to my aquarium and plug it into the four 2 pins sockets built into the frame. As I am in the UK we use three pins on our plugs.
Does anyone know whether the two pins are foreign or perhaps like the ones that I plug my razor into in the bathroom? Or are these the same?

If anyone knows the answer, could they point me in the right direction of an air-stone and pump with two pin so that I can plug it in?

------

Lastly, on a side note
I want to move my fish across from the small aquarium to the new one over some time, which order would I be best adding them?

I have:
Four neons
Two cory cats
Apple Snail
Platty/Molly (not sure which)

And do i just get them in the net and drop them in or do i need to get bags and hold them in for 20 mins like when bringing them in from the LFS?

Thanks so much again, appreciate all the help so much!

Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,
Sounds like 2 pin US sockets
I recently bought an airpump(tetratec APS300) which came with 2 pin plug and a uk adapter from www.zooplus.co.uk which was at a very good price.

Skins.

no need for an adapter just connect the neutral and live to a uk plug no need for earth ;)

Hi,

You could get an adapter from power connections. This is the best way as it doesn't void any warrantee. I had these for my dennerle nano which light and filter came with 2 pin euro plugs. This sounds the same as yours. Just google power connections. They are uk based and the adapters cost about £3 or so. Or you can get them from TLC electrics if you have one close. These adapters are great as they secure together with screws to stop there being any movement between the conductor and the connector unlike most adapters.

Hope this helps :good:

P.s. They are also a fused unit which can only be a good thing.

Bought this :)

Please dont say it is terrible now i have bought it hahaha :)

Thanks guys :)

tescos mate. they have the connectors. 3 pin block which plaugs in to your socket, and then the 2 pin item plugs into that.

the uk are pretty much on their own when it comes to 3 pin plugs (a bit like the pound!)

europe, asia and america all have 2 pin.

Each to their own i suppose but there is no need to buy anything to convert it

with regards to your other question. Is the filter in the 'new' tank less than 6 months old? if so, your neons might not do too well as they need a nice mature filter

If the two pin plug has flat pins on it it will be from the US so will not be compatible with our mains voltage. If it has round pins it will be from the EU so will be compatible.

You can buy adaptors as has been previously stated.

Personaly I would chop off the two pin plug & wire on a new three pin plug. That way there is one less weak link.

Here is a wiki artical that is quite in depth & explains much better than I ever could.

Wow, cant remember now if it if flat or circular, worst case scenario I shall just shop the end of my razor or something :)

Yeah my smaller tank is a couple months or so I think. Everything seems happy in it.
Quite nice having a small tank as It has stopped that rush of buying fish for the new tank as I already have the small one to watch.

Forgot to pay for my testing kit on ebay so will be another day now grrrr :(
