Well, after 5 weeks with three Platys who were very happy went and bought 8 male Guppies, 4 yellow and 4 orange tailed.
The Platys were instantly not impressed and have spent the last 9 days hiding. I think the Guppies are just too fast for them, even though they are half their size.
Two days ago two Guppies became lifeless and spent the day sitting on the bottom, yesterday they both died.
The other 6 seem very happy with themselves?
Anyway, maybe I put too many in at once, so we will see how the 6 get on. I hope the Platys get their act together, the two females are obviously pregnant.

I also have a multitude of snails that have appeared as if by magic. I can only assume they came in as eggs on the weed I bought. I don;t think that they are a problem.
Water looks nice and clean, I have aquasafe in it and do a 20% change twice a week.
I don't have a test kit (and can't afford one) but even if it did say chemicals are high then I doubt that there is much more I could do.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know how I am getting on in this new hobby.
