hey, at seapets i saw some little turtles i *think* they were named red ear turtles or something like that
they were tiny, my friend who works there said they grow quite large,

i was wondering, has anyone ever had these and how big their tank needs to be? id really like some

ta :good:

:) I've had red ear sliders for a little over a year and they are really cool. I got them when their shell was about the size of a half dollar. A little over a year later they are probably six or seven inches in length. I started with a 10 gallon tank. Now I've moved to a 55 gallon tank. I definitely recommend you get them and take really good care of them. They are really cool. A good website to read about care is austinsturtlepage.com or res.com. Good Luck!

I have a Western Painted turtle which is similar in care and size of a Red Eared Slider. They are really neat pets but I cannot tell you how expensive they are! I have had mine for just over a year. He is 2 1/4" long and I have spent almost $1000.00 on him so far. 55 gallon tank, lighting, UVB lighting, heat lights, a BIG filter, substrate, tank decor, food, heaters, basking dock......and more! Plus they live for a VERY long time! They do not tell you these things at the pet store!
I got mine due to my sons going out of state camping with their dad and good ol dad letting my oldest son bring the tiny turtle home that he found in the lake there. :grr: I wasn't the happiest of mothers when my son came home with a tiny turtle in a mayonaisse jar.
