Came down to a bit of a shock this morning. I spotted a white lump at the back of my turtle tank. It was an egg!, My RES are 30 + years old and have never laid eggs before, So it may have been my florida cooter (who has been here about 4 years now). Having never had turtles lay eggs before I dont know if I should start worrying about whoever laid it being egg bound because there was only one egg.

Any advice welcome :)

I am sorry I put it in the bin, it was white with brown specs.

I have now re-scaped their enclosure to include a nesting box in the hope they lay the remainder in it, rather than get egg bound.

I dont see any problems that could arise, what are you worried about? Them becoming aggressive or getting the eggs stuck?

I am worried after reading on the net that they will get egg bound and die. Which the two red eared sliders, I cant really believe this would be the case after never laying an egg for 30 years, but I dont know if it was one of them or the cooter, either way with so much different info on the net, I just want what is best for the turtles.
