Anyone out there kept/dealt with tulip snails? I'm wondering about the following:
- will they eat other frozen meats, like squid?
- do they attack inverts in general, and will they go after all other snail species?
- how hardy are they compared to other marine snails, like Turbos?
I know I can't have any in my current tanks unless I want my other snails to be an open buffet. My interest in them mainly stems from the fact that I saw some recently in a display tank and I'm curious about predatory snails in general. My books don't give much detail other than to say "they will eat other snails" or "they are effective predators of unwanted snails". The LFS where I saw the tulip snails has them in with some burrowing conches...which have survived for at least a month now in with the tulips. I'm not sure whether this means they are "immune" to tulip snail predation or if it's just random luck that they havn't been nabbed yet.
