Trouble With Angelfish Mate

One of my angelfish died this morning.... But that angel had a partner and now she is really depressed. She didn't allow me to feed her and when i removed the body of the other angelfish she became very upset. Now she is swimming straight to the glass of the fish tank. I have to be checking on her. What can i do so she doesnt end up killing herself?

Have you checked the water params. I've had a few angels lose partners over the years, they dont behave like that

Everything is fine. I checked plus all the other angels are fine.

They do occasionally, generally they'll get over it after a few days, but moving the decor around so that they thing they're in a new place can help a bit, much as you would if you were introducing a new fish and wanted to reduce the aggression from the established occupants.

Never experienced it and i've kept a lot of angels. I used to often break up pairs by moving them to other tanks (i was keeping them for display purposes only at the time), the other might have looked for them for an hours or so, but certainly were not manic about it, they either went on to try and get a new partner or just stayed to themselves

Agreed, particularly with an unexplained death, I've not seen it all that often, but have seen it occasionally, and I probably number in the thousands for keeping angelfish in my time, which may explain why I've seen a rarer trait. They're not generally all that troubled by the couple bond, but my suspicion has always been that it's more to do with being used to having them around in the territory, and splitting them both into different tanks didn't create all that much trouble, I've only ever seen it after removing a fish and leaving the other in the same tank.

Well she is there not all franatic but she is refusing food. Yesterday i did that. Move stuff around i juat hope she lets me feed her later on.

As you've now lost two fish, you really must get your water parameters checked out; if you don't have kits of your own, then you can get your LFS to do it, but make sure you get the actual numbers; not 'fine', or 'a bit high', actual numbers. This is vital! Please post these ASAP!

Take some water out for the testing, and then do a very large water change; at least 75%.

How big is the tank, and exactly what fish are in it now? Are any of them showing any signs of anything out of the ordinary? How long has the tank been set up, and are you confident it's cycled? Did any of the fish go through a fish-in cycle at any point?

Its 110 gallon tank. I did get the water tested at an lfs and the water was fine. The tabk is cycled and it has been up since january i belive. It only had 6 angelfish (now 4) and two blood parrots. None of the fish show any nipping. Or anything. The one that died first had stunt growth and a missing fin but when i bought him, he was already paired up woth the other angelfish. The other fish are fine, they have shown any sings of stress or sickness. But i will keep checking. I did make a large water change either way but really the water was fine. Some of the fish were owned by other people i dont know if they put them in fish in cycle. I didnt. I cycled it before i put the tank up.
