Hi,
I have a Tropiquarium 68 with the built in light timer unit in the hood which is faulty. I have heard people say they can be repaired. Can anyone tell me how they can be repaired or does anyone have a spare unit they can sell me at a reasonable price. They are available new for £65 but was hoping for something more reasonable.

The heck with spending that kind of money. Hard wire your lights to the plug and use a simple mechanical timer to plug into the mains. In the US I can buy one for about $10 which is less than £7 if the exchange rate means anything.

One of my mates used to do a repair / swap service....

If your any good with a soldering iron it's a few push switches and a relay that are the common points of failure...

Has it still got its time showing, just fails to start the lights?
