Tropical Fish Shop + Cruelty To Betta

My Local Tropical fish shop have betta in small fish bowls about 3 inches in diameter .... all placed next to each other.

All the betta were flaring at other other though the glass .. constantly

Is this poor living conditons? .... if not then I wont feel bad for keeping my betta in a 0.5 gallon tank

The tank size, although cruel, is pretty normal I think in LFS. However, it isn't very good that their kept next to each other where they can flare up...

Keeping them in small bowls is much the same thing as the keeping of, say, 50 tetras in a 5g tank. Saves space.

They are kept in divided tanks or tanks next to each other so that they display and look their best. If they were kept in these small tanks away from other betta they would probably lay on the bottom.

get a 1 gallon bowl, even better 5 gallons

Even better get a 10 gallon, add two dividers. Room for 3 bettas. I my divided tank with my 3 bettas.
