Hi

I have been having a few problems with my tropical fish over the weekend, i have lost 3 bettas, 1 swords, red tail black and 4 neon tetra and 1 this morning.

Its a 60 gallon tank

The female bettas looked like they had been they had white patches, like they had been beaten up, and apart from the neon losing colour before they die there is no other signs of illness, apart from some fast gill movment. I cant get water stats sorry, temp is a 26-27c. I have been doing 25% water change every day.

Other tank mates are

1 sword
1 plec
2 honey gourami
4 head and tail light tetra
8 neons

Your tank was overstocked.
Take a sample of your water to the lfs and ask them to write the readings down for you.

The white patches do they look fluffy or bleaching beneath the skin.
Sounds like columnaris.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

Immediate water change and increase aeration.
Fish can labour breath or gasp at surface with bad water quality.

Sorry I read it wrong thinking it was 60 litre.
I would get your water tested to make sure everything in order.
Bad water quality can make fish flick and rub.
Any excess mucas on the gills or body of the fish.
What do the fish gills look like.

Its only the neons that seem to be effected now after the fighters died, i will try and get the water tested. Apart from the neon turing pale theres no of signs of illness. Except some are breathing a tad faster

Neons are very sensative to water quality.
have the neons body gone pale all over, or just the red stripe area.

I would get your water tested.
For now do a water change and increase aeration.

Keep a look out for these signs.

Red area will look bleached out.
Red area will have a milky substance on it.
Blue area will turn a yellowish colour.
Lumps on the belly that go to a point.
Neons will leave the shoal and be restless.
The neons will swim oddly.
The neon spine meant bent.
Black linning around the red area, mostly the tail part.
Later stages dropsy, and popeye.
Sometimes the fish will lose weight and look skinny.
