If you have a plant that a has a half dead or dying leaf, do you remove the entire leaf and stem or do you snip off the dying piece? I trim my large leaf house plants this way. Plant is an Amazon Sword.

Trim at the base of the stem

For swords wait until the whole leaf is rotten or only trim the rotten part the plant is transferring the energy to the crown

Speaking of trimming plants how soon after planting utricularia graminifolia should you start to trimming or does it need chance to carpet before considering trimming.

Thanks

Plants should be allow to settle into a tank for at least 1 month before you start pruning them. If you cut them too soon, they might not have enough reserves to recover and can die.
