I have 2 oscars that teamed up, (Ragnar and Lagatha) 5 silver dollars, 2 electric blue acara and a pleco in a 120 gallon with a fluval FX4. Am I overstocked? Can anyone please share wisdom with me? The 2 oscars are in my 60 gallon with the pleco for now while I out the silver dollars in the q20 with the Acara, the 120 is almost thru cycling. So they should help push it thru the hump.

Hi welcome to the forum :)

Is the 120 tank a 4x2x2 foot? You are probably about ok but the Oscars or one of them could take over the whole tank. You will get a better idea as it works out over time. I would be more confident about it working in a 6x2x2 but there is a chance it could work in a 120.

Make sure you keep up on your weekly water changes, monitor things like your nitrate level and watch for aggression from any of them especially if they spawn. If your nitrates start getting high eg 40ppm before a water change you could look at adding some plants that grow out of the water like a Monsterra or Peace Lilly or you could get a nitrate reactor which is a second type of filter.

If you have an established filter on an aquarium, just transfer the filter and fish to the new tank. No need to cycle the new one because it will have the established filter on it
