ok at my lfs i saw 2 kinds of clown fish, tomato clowns and regular clown fish. are tomato clans even a species of clown fish or is it just an adaptation they developed? i assume u all know wat a clown fish looks like but a tomato clown looks a bit chunkier and a bit meaner looking -_-

The tomato clown is a type of clown. Scientifically it's a Amphiprion frenatus. http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=184

I still don't know what people mean when they say "regular clownfish". I never saw finding nemo so I don't know which kind that is. Someone told me my ocellaris clown looked like nemo,is that what you were talking about? http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=137

Or are you talking about the Percula Clowns? http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=142

J-Money is right, its a little hard to say "regular Clownfish" as there are a couple that look extremly close to each other. I understand what you mean though and these regular clowns look enough alike to easily be considered as the same fish.

Ok well there are many other types of clowns and Tomatoes are just one of them, here is a list of the most comon ones.

Maroon Clown
Tomatoe CLown
Clarkii Clown
Skunk Clown

All of these display the same hosting type instinct but these fish tend to get larger, more territorial and aggressive than the other 2 types of common clown.

well to me this is a regular clownfish :
