ok so i have been treating my tank with swim bladder treatment but it says on the box that it works most effectively when aquarium salt is added...

i just wondered, with the fish that i have in my tank, if i add salt will it harm or affect any of them? which of my fish do not like salt in the water?

i have:

3 honey gouramis
2 dwaft puffers
4 harliquins
1 bristlenose plec

please let me know....

thanks, Laura

p.s/ Also what is the best treatment for 'dropsy' and if i added a 'internal infection' treatment to my tank, would it effect any other the fish that are not ill??

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the plec will like salt. Is this true anyone?

Yeah the salt will be bad for the plec, catfish in general don't tolerate salt very well.

Tropicarna, try using "anti swimbladder desease" med by Interpet or use a general anti internal bacterial med for treating the swimbladder issues along with feeding the fish some veg like cooked peas- swimbladder disorders are either bacterial or constipation related the vast majority of the time, which fish are you treating in particular?

its my two honey gourami that are bloated and have stringy, white waste....

i have tried the pea trick a week ago and will do it again tonight... i lost one honey gourami last night due to bloatyness and i dont want my other fish to die...

I would strongly advise using an anti swimbladder or internal bacterial med as well then particually if the fish have white stringy poop, which is a common sign of internal bacterial infections  .
