Tiny Deformed Severum.

I have been looking for another Severum but the ones I want are too much money or they are too small.

Today the same store I bought my first Severum from 6 years ago had babies. There was one tiny one less then an inch. I have 2 extra tanks set up that are empty so I desided to get this little Severum. Turns out when he was in the bag I could see him better. He has a deformed gill cover. I should have said something and maybe could have gotten him for free or discount. It's amost not there at all. This little guy is in a 10 gal by himself to grow a bit. He is the runt and I think he might be stunted. Oh yes he is a mess. I hope to put him in the 100gal when he gets to 5".

Here is my Tiny rescue Green Severum.  He is eating well and active maybe he will be ok. I want to see if I can grow him out to be as big as my 8 inch male.

Anyone have any luck with Fish that are missing a gill plate?  I am not sure how this will affect him in the long run.

Oh he is so tiny and sweet. Is his gill plate totally missing or just curled? I have an A. metae with a curled gill, he was born here and manages just fine, and of course I have a certain oscar with a deformed bent gill plate and he is just fine.

It looks like the gill plate is missing. Maybe bent and shorts. He is so small its hard to tell.

he is still a little pig so thats good. He now knows me and when I come to the tank he is up saying HI.

Thats good, atleast you know he wont sit in that store and grow up and die in a tiny tank because of that minor deformity right, cute lil guy.

Update on my little guy.

He is doing great I moved him into my 80gal to grow out and he is growing fast. Here his is. Missing a gill plate does not effect him at all so far. I almost killed him when I mixed up my water conditioner bottle put . He bounced back quickly.

He was so tiny when I first got him. He is still small and this 80gal is planted so he will be moving to the 100gal once he gets bigger.
