I recently read a post about someone's 56 gallon tank breaking, and found out that this can be caused by it being lop-sided.
I have a fluval 1000 deep, its 40 (UK) gallons. and its currenty on a juwel 1000 stand (same size, fits perfect).
It does lean to one side slightly, the water is about 7mm deeper at one end than the other. Would this make alot of difference, and is there a chance that my tank may break?

ya, that over time can result in a broken tank, what i would do is place a piece of cardboard under the side of the tank that is tilted. It seems to work great for me.

i wouldn't recommend that myself, that would cause a bend in the base of the tank.
My tank is completely flat, its just my bedroom floor is slighty wonky. would that affect it? if so i might place something underneath the stand to level it out a bit.

Best to level it out before the water relocates itself. I use wood shims they sell at the lumber yard for installing doors & windows. A bundle costs around $1. My basement floor slopes towards the drain, and everything needs to be shimmed to level it.

Personally I'd leave it alone. With only 40 Gals the pressure difference from one side to the other is minimal.

What does break a tank is an uneaven base IE bolstering up one side with card or something. So long as your tank stand is level which it seems it is, and its only your floor that is uneven I'd leave it well alone.

That stand you have is good and strong so no chance of it warping or loosing its shape.......

EDIT: forgot to say, all my tanks sit on polystirien (spelling?) sheets. This allows the tank over time to find its own level to some extent.

yeh, its spelt polystyrene, lol. :D
unfortunately i cant put this under my tank cause it has a floating base.
I might just put something under the stand to spread the weight around my floor abit, stop it getting any worse.
