I have 30+ gallon tank with some Tiger Barbs. I was curious about the egg laying process. Could somebody specify what steps I should take to successfully breed them? I've been told that changing temperature is a common method but I am ultimately just curious.

Barbs are cyprinids, and thus egg scatterers. There is an explanation of spawning here:

I have black ruby barbs that regularly spawn in their species tank, and with sufficient cover (lots of chunks of wood and plants like Java Fern and Java Moss) fry regularly appear. I just let nature take its course, meaning I am not specifically trying to breed/raise fry, but the point is that barbs are generally prolific spawners. The above link will provide info on what you can do to achieve more success.
