This must be staged...

I came across this video on Youtube. Not my intention to insult these guys. I just don't buy this to be true. They are on the search for guppies in the wild. But they only catch fancy guppies and they're all male. Even koi guppies are in there. Even when fancies are released in wild nature, the next generations will revert to wild phenotype. And if the pool is closed from other waters, the wild type phenotypes will look like eachother (at least, very close). There are all different male fancy guppies that they catch. And to repeat myself, all different in coloration. These are fancy guppies,as you can find them at an lfs. What do you guys think of this?

i try my best to ignore videos like those.
any insults are well deserved. they've made hundreds of videos in which they release store-bought fish to "catch."

Not only is it staged, but they also shouldn't be doing this to fish for views. Putting them in a lake then taking them out again, it's horrible

This is an excellent example of a major problem in this hobby...so-called "knowledgeable experts" posting absolute nonsense, and people falling for it. A considerable number of similar videos posted on YouTube are equally false. It is one of the negatives with the internet...anyone with the money can set up a web site and promote inaccurate data/information which others will believe just because it is on the web.

Well, I'm not someone who loves to insult others. But it's so clear that this is staged. The video itself was funny though, if you realize that this can't be real (that's the only positive thing I can think of).

That's also why you get so much misconceptions by people on forums. If you only live with the info found on the net (which are mostly copied texts), I can imagine that people take any info for granted.

Well, I've noticed it multiple times that socalled fish specialists, also assume that what they find on the net that it's true. And then, they'll use those info to advise others. I've argued a number of times with such people. Nowadays, I let it go... For it's of no use. For if i'd continue arguing about it, that would make them unstable sources. Which they just don't like to happen. I myself am a well experienced aquarist and fish breeder but what I don't know is simply something I just don't know. Be open about it... I'm not ashamed to admit for not knowing everything within the aquaristic field. But unfortunately, there are a serious number of people outthere that like to call themselves specialist with just a few years (or not even) of experience. But just working with info they've gathered on the net. And assume that that particular info is correct.

Well, if they were released the same day earlier, I just don't know wether that's the case. But for sure, it's certain that these are released specimens. With all the reasons I've already given overhere before, these are just fancy male guppies. No single female was in there. Like I've already mentioned, they just didin't think it through. They betrayed themselves by using fancy guppies for this video. And again, only males...

You're right, but now I've seen two females in that glass container. I must have overlooked them. But also the females are fancy guppies. This makes it only more clear how fake this is.

Definitely a fake ! And, I could bet my life on it, intended to deceive future buyers, perhaps even with the complicity of some wholesalers .... Traffic of exotic animals is so lucrative, it come to billions and billions, even if I dunno how much is fish trade. This is dreadful.
