I have one breeding pair each of platies and swordtails, and both females are pregnant, but for some odd reason, the males are getting chased around the tank! Is it normal for the females to be aggressive? Also, I know I need more females, I'm working on that.

Yes, it's not abnormal for pregnant livebearers to be irritable, particularly as they are getting ready to give birth. They don't want to be bothered. I remember the feeling...

Hi,

You should really have 2 females for every male to reduce agression. Did you know that swordtails and platies will cross breed?

Yeah i had that happen to me, i had a female swordtail and a male and female platy but in the end it was the female swordtail that became pregnant and had 7 fry. Mind you we didnt even know she was pregnant until we saw the fry swimming around the bottom as we where new to fish at the time.
And because we where new to fish the lfs didnt tell us the we needed 2 female to a male, Just remember when starting out ask all the questions you can think of..... :S :fish: :D
