Thermomiter Help Please!

Hi, I hope someone can help me..

I've just got my new fish and the tank is cycled perfectly (6 weeks)

I'm having problems with the temperature reading

I have an internal glass heater and it's set at 25 but my digital is reading at 34.3

I have just turned the heater down to 20 but why is the heater so out??

What should I do???

Put cold water in there or just let it cool on its own?

Water is very very warm eek

your heater sould be at a 45 degree angle?
vertical and horizontal will over or under heat i would slowly add some colder water
i also would get an analog thermometer in aswell i have both just in case
