Here's some not-so-hot quality pictures of the new little labs i just got, and the tank redone with sand and my first shot at rockwork, also, i'll start with what the tank looked like when it was pretty darn new...
(keep in mind, it's a palm pilot camera.. 640x480, best i got. :/

Here's where we started, think this might be a couple years ago, maybe even three...

kwl, pics mate, what size is the tank? and how much were each of the labs?
im thinking of setting up a lab tank :D

it's a 37g, wish i had bigger.

30"x12"x22"

My bigger lab I got a while back for probably around $8US.
My six little new ones cost me just under $4US a piece. Found six swimming in a tank marked "misc african cichlids" so i got them for a little less. Plus they are really little. But they are getting on fine with my bigger one. They're so curious and active. Not shy or nervous at all. It's great!

good luck setting up your lab tank! i really like this species. they are crazy fun to watch. :)

Very nicely done. Before you know it, those little labs will be big labs, and you'll have they joy of watching them breed. I don't care if they are common, I still think every mbuna keeper should have had at least one lab species tank at some point.

Look forward to seeing more pics. :good:

Lovely tank, like your rocks/rockwork.

I've got some Yellow Labs in my Malawi tank - beautiful fish :D

do you think i could get 2 labs for my 15gal?, if its got enough hiding places, eg plants and rocks?

15 gallons really doesn't give them the space the need, even for two, or one for that matter. there are some dwarf mbuna that i think would be ok, but you'll have to wait for a reply from one of the pros to tell you which or if that in fact is true at all. :)

With the exception of some Lake Tang shelldwellers, 15gal is too small.
