Hi all.

I just picked 6 of these up and the look quite nice. They are wild caught so this is going to be 'fun'.

In the quarantine tank:

This one was enjoying his blood worm (it's sticking out of his gill cover):

They seem quite healthy but I noticed a few had some clipped (not sure if that's the proper term) fins. I'm not treating the tank with anything and the lfs had them in quarantine for a week with no problems.

Tonight I'm going to see if they'll take pellets. I have my fingers crossed.

I still have a long way to go to catch up to Drewry, ICEEGRL, JollySue and the 'OTHERS'...

Cheers.

Thanks Jollysue and Bozza. It took me an hour to decide whether to get the metae or these. The metae weren't as crystal white as some I had seen so I decided on the atropersonatus.

Bozza, yes, my thoughts exactly! But I really think I need to show them off with white sand instead of the 'natural' pea gravel in my 60 gallon. Another 20 gallon long tank maybe? No, no, stop it, no more tanks!!!!

Very nice. This specie is on my wish list as I have never had the opportunity to obtain them from a reputable source. Congrats. - Frank

Woh! I don't know what to say... Coming from you Frank that is one heck of an ego boost. Thank you.

Nice additions. They look very healthy :good:

Thank you Barracuda518.

I was a bit hesitant getting them as the metae I was thinking of getting were more active than these but they were also quite a bit younger. But as soon as I got them into my QT they went quite active.

I'm just hoping the QT they were previously in was sufficient and my QT is redundant. A couple of them were nosing around an algae tablet tonight so there's hope. After the protein boost from the blood worm I wanted to try to get some roughage into them (it works from me).

Im guessing these are wild caught fish. Sounds like you are having problems getting them to eat. You might want to try live foods like Blackworms to get them started. I have never seen a cory not go crazy over live blackworms. They will most likely start eating other prepared foods once they get used to being in the tank. I have also found that earthworm sticks seem to work well with wild cories.

I think you need to go back and get the C. metae so you can have both :fun:

Jollysue told me I needed to come look... She knows me well...
Those are beautiful!!!
They would look so good on white sand!
With those... breeding would be a must! Congratulations!
If you do happen to breed them... Remember me... I just happen to have a few empty tanks they would look great in! :hyper:

Thank you so much everybody.

Barracuda518:

I wasn't having a problem with them eating, just fretting that they wouldn't take wafers/tablets. The finished 1/2 of a Hikari algae wafer last night and today the finished a Nutrafin Max sinking tablet. It took them over 3 hours to do it but they did it. But I'll definitely look for a source of Blackworms. The metae are on the back burner (figuratively). I called the lfs and put the remaining 3 on hold. What was I thinking leaving just 3 by themselves.

jollysue:

I don't wanna hear it...

ICEEGRL:

If I get them to breed and I have enough juveniles, you're welcome to a breeding pair. I'm not in this for the money. I'm just not sure how I'd get them to you.

Cooper2085:

Always the gentleman, thank you.
