I so agree, Lucy155! As far as algae goes, I don’t have any either but that’s probably because I scrape the sides when I do a thorough cleaning each week. I don’t know. That and snails.:dunno:

I have very little in my 35 gallon tall hex tank. It is well planted with low lighting, minimal ferts, and has a hungry BN Pleco who's job is to keep the algae at bay.

You are a member of the most fascinating hobby involving living creatures that there is. You are a caretaker of creatures that live, breathe and reproduce under water. You could have a dog or a lizard or a bird, and they are great too, but fish live where we can't. You have to develop a whole new level of understanding. We are not just pet fish keepers. We are scientists and biologists in our own right. We know about water chemistry, bacteria, fish reproduction and the list goes on and on. I don't care if you have one guppy in a gallon jar or if you have a thousand gallon Rift Lake masterpiece, you are an ichthyologist. Success to you my friend !

But beware. Seangee is in the UK, so the time he regards as his first post of the day may not be on the same day as given in your list because you'll be using one of the American time zones.

Sean's first post yesterday (9:50 am UK time) was this https://www.fishforums.net/threads/aquarium-electrical-set-up.454143/#post-3835841
His second (9:53 am UK time) was this https://www.fishforums.net/threads/stocking-for-9-gal.454142/#post-3835842
His third (10:11 am UK time) was this https://www.fishforums.net/threads/welcome-to-the-jungle.454145/ and I suspect this is the post Sean was referring to. It was his first thread of the day.

Ok, thank you @essjay! That makes sense. ;)

I'm pretty sure he meant the first post in that plant thread. And if you have massive amounts of higher plants like he does then algae can't get a foothold as they use up all the available nutrients. But I have been known to be wrong.

I think you’re right but it would have been nice for him to tell PheonixKingX the name of the post instead of making him chase around for it. Courtesy.

Sorry guys - traveling all day Tuesday - arrived home 3am yesterday and first day in the new job today. When I did post it was on a phone with a really sloooow connection.

As Byron keeps saying, its a balance between light, nutrients and plants - just don't leave anything for the algae. Of course I have algae, its natural and healthy. Just not enough to have to scrape it off.
