Last night just after eating one of my dwarf gouramis kept chasing one of the other dwarf gouramis. The one being chased retreated to a hiding spot in a plant. Then another dwarf came by and he got chased as well. Well he decied to not just take it, so he turned toward the other one. At this point both of them tilted about 45 degrees to their left still swimming around and then they tilted about 45 degrees to the right and they would also twist their bodies in unison bringing their head towards their tails. They were clearly engaged in an argument, but it was so much like a dance, it amazed me.

Has anyone else every experienced this?

There's a lot to be said about proper punctuation;

should actually be, "Last night, after eating, one of my dwarf gouramis..."

Hahaha, nobody's perfect, though. It sounded like you had eaten one of them.

Anyway, that sounds like quite a dance, would have been fun to see. I don't have gouramis, so I can't tell you what it means, but I'd assume it had something to do with fighting for territory. Or, possibly but less likely, a fight over a female/breeding display.

I have a pair of albino veil angels, and they do their own dance. One I've never seen before. I have seen many of them lip lock and wrestle and that kind of stuff but not like these two. First the male chases the female around the tank a few times in a circle, then she chases him, then, now I hope i can explain this properly, they get side by side, facing opposite directions, and turn toward the other's tails. Then they chase their mate's tail around and around REAL fast, head to tail, in a tight spiral! It looks like a whirlwind of fins and tails! I wonder if they get dizzy? They almost make me dizzy doing it haha. It's so fun to watch em do it, I called my wife down and we laughed so hard the first time I saw em do it. They do it all the time tho, at least a couple times a week that I know of, its a sight for sure.

:rofl: Oh my, and I used to be an editor! You are definitely correct. As you said, anyone can make a mistake, and that was a very funny one.

Nope, did not eat any gouramis!!!

My gouramis used to do a very similar thing. It's really amazing to watch.

p.s. It's funny how missing one comma out can really change a sentence

Last night just after eating one of my dwarf gouramis

Kinda scared me when I read it!

my barbs used to do somhin like this, 2 would lip lock and all the others seemed to form a circle, the two in the middle would then spin an spin whilst still in a lip lock... then next thing u know one would go shootin across the tank :huh: was well weird. sort of like country dancein... but not in a line.. if it were ppl i would have sworn the 'ring' barbs would have been clappin hands an tappin a foot -_-

my pair of kiisin g's used to do the 'dance' u described tho.

Sounds like you have a loving couple :wub: ........don't be surprised if you find a bubble nest appearing soon :D
Angels don't build bubble nests... they spawn on broad leafed plants such as amazon sword or on flat rockwork such as slate.
