Afternoon guys
hope you had a good christmas

I have had my tank up and running now for 3-4 months, all has been going really well, water stats are all spot on, fish all seem healthy and happy,
I had one clown loach die last month with no reason why.

However, one of my diamond flame tetras is not looking great!?
Its floating upside down, still breathing, and its belly looks like its about to pop!
It seems to be full of air, and some of the skin undernearth seems to of ripped.
Does anyone know what i should do and how this happens?!

Ive lifted it from the water for this photo to get a better picture

Well I dont know what is wrong with the poor fish but I would Euthanize him.

Tub of cold water with ice cubes and once the water is ice cold dump the fish to put him out his misery.

Dear me, poor little fella looks very uncomfortable. He looks very bloated, what do you feed them on and how much at a time? It could be too late for him, but you could always try him with pea just in case- pea is a laxative to fish and if you can get him to eat some it may help clean his system out. You could also do an Epsom salt bath dip to try and draw out the fluids in his body. I think it's 1 tablespoon per gallon, and keep the fish in the container until it either shows too much stress or until it passes faeces (usually for about 15-30 mins I think).

It doesn't look good, but good luck if you decide to try and treat him :good: Keeping my fingers crossed for the little guy!

I feed them a pinch of tetramin every day! And twice a week some bloodworms!

It's really odd as the other fish are all good.

He's still the same and it's been a good 3-4 hours and if anything it's getting larger so I will have to euthanise him :(

I would introduce some veg into their diets then- peas, cucumber, cauliflower, etc. This will give them some ruffage which will help keep their systems clean and working.

Have you tried any treatments with him so far?
