Just tested my water for the first time. I set this tank (30g) up almost a week ago, and put 6 corydoras in it to help start the cycle. Just did all tests on my water and here are the results.

Nitrate - between 0 and 5

Nitrite - 0

Ammonia - between 0 and 0.25

pH - between 6.4 and 6.6

Is there anything that I need to do in order to make the water better, or is it pretty good where it's at? Thanks in advance for the help.

Looks fine to me. Just do a 25% change to get that 0-5 to 0 and you'll be good :p A week is a quick time for a tank to full cycle though, so keep testing to make sure nothing spikes.

I just did a 25% water change a few hours ago before I did the test. Should I do another one or just keep testing to make sure it doesn't go up between now and the next water change in a week? I was thinking the same thing that those numbers are very good for only a week, but maybe I just got lucky. I will just make sure to test a few times a week to make sure nothing goes crazy as this seems too good to be true.

Your tank has not cycled, it is only just begining.

If you read this topic here it will help you understand what's going on in your tank and where you are in the process.

It would also be a good idea to test your mains water supply as I think that's where your NitrAte reading is coming from (this is not a problem but you need to take it into account).

From your readings it looks like your just starting to get an Ammonia spike, this will be followed by rising NitrIte levels and then the Ammonia levels will fall back to 0.0ppm. You are then into the long stretch where NitrItes will stay at high level before your NitrAte levels start to rise. The your NitrIte will fall down to 0.0ppm and your NitrAte will fluctuate between water changes, you have then completed the cycle.
Keep up the water changes to keep the toxin levels down and keep testing your water :)

HTH & good luck.
