Hi all!
I have a bit of a dilema here.
Within the next 2 months, my house will be fumigated given a recent discovery of termites. (got to be one of the fish lovers worst fears) Now I have to arrange a temporary home for my fish ( 2-3) days and was wondering if any of you nice folks have any suggestions.
As far as livestock goes:
1 maroon clown
1 yellow tang
1 Sgt. Major Damsel
1 Neon Dottyback.
5 hermits
1 cleaner shrimp
30 lbs of live roock with some polyps and mushrooms
1 serpent star
They have all happily lived in my 30 gallon for about a year and a half. So I sure dred moving them especially the yellow tang.

My idea was cycling a 10 gallon tank with some of the water from my tank. for about one month prior to putting the little fellows (actually not that little anymore) in. Is there benefit to using the same water from my current tank? Of course I will do my best to match the conditions onto the 10 gallon.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated as time is of the essence and as much as I hate displacing my fish, I would much dislike being misplaced from my home by a bunch of termites.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

I would worry about the yellow and the damsel. A 10 is not going to make the yellow tang very happy and it may develop ich with the stress of moving and having to live in a 10 gal. Also the damsel will be very aggresive in that small of a tank and may get very aggressive with the others.

If it were me I would ask a LFS if they could house the livestock for a couple days, or ask if they had an extra tank laying around that you could borrow for a few days. Also look for a local club and ask for the members help, some of them may have experience moving and be willing to lend a hand. If nothing else was available, I would get as large a rubbermaid tub as I could find and use that to set everything up. Maybe even a couple of them if they weren't really big enough for everything.

now....hmmm...how to put it diplomaticly? Tangs are well know for the ease with which they get ich. They get ich when they are stressed out, and putting a Tang (even a smaller one) a fish that usually requires a min of 55 gallons; a maroon clown, another fish that usually needs 55 gallons minimum; damsels which are usually pushy, although i think the clown might back him down; and a psuedochromis in a ten gallon tank is bad news. I honestly dont think that they would make it. If you have the time do as crazy said and take them to your LFS and see if they will put them up for a few days. you could also head to wal mart and pick up three or four empty ten gallon tanks for 8 bucks apeice. That would be another way to solve your problem.

as for your long term problem...I hope your looking at a larger set up for all those fish in the near future, otherwise moving them for 2-3 days is only the start of your problems.

I am definetly looking at getting a much bigger tank but for now want to take care of the termite issue. When I got my tank, I was told that 4 fish would be fine is a thirty gallon. The four fish I bought were the onnes I still have. Being new to this hobby 1.5 years ago, I trusted them. My fish are fine and healthy but their agressive side has really increased as of late. The tang and damsel go at it alot. I do want to keep these fish (except the damsel) and move them into at least a 60 gallon tank. I will undertake this project soon.
Thanks for the advise.

I'd go with the large rubbermaid tub solution. They can be lifesavers for tank moving and other un-expected problems. Just remember to keep powerheads going in the temp tanks, ESPECIALLY those with the corals. Without water movement, the corals will die
