Telmatochromis Temporalis 'Swell'

A fairly rare fish which is a shame as it is one of the most stunning with it's pale white body and yellow highlights and blue ringed eyes

Habitat: Sediment Free Rocky Habitat

Diet: Carnivore

Gender Differences: Monomorphic - Male is larger of the two, and the female is leaner and longer. The female also has a more pronounced 'swell' on their forehead.

Breeding: Cave/Shell Spawner - Male guards territory whilst female stays with small fry until they are free swimming. Parents only rarely eat smallest of fry, and mainly at feeding time when confused with sinking food.

Temperament: Mildly Aggressive towards other fish in a community setup. More than a match for some larger fish, especially when breeding.

Maximum Size: 3.0″

Temperature: 77 – 79°F

pH: 8.0 - 8.6

Other notes: a breeding pair can be kept in a tank as small as 10 Gallon. Provide a flat bed of coral sand or coral chippings as well as shells and ocean/tuffa rock. The fish can be very skittish and is very sensitive to movement in the room if is housed.

Tank: 48L fishbox - ph8.0, temp 25deg
