how do i know when a tank is done cycling?

In the most simple answer I could think of...When a certain amount of Ammonia you add has been converted to nitrite then nitrate.

But im useless on fishless cycling as I've never done it.

Its cyled when it can get rid of 5ppm ammonia plus Nitrites in 12 hours, every day for a week.
