hey all i have a 28g tank that has 3 clown loaches around 3 inch in length a lown loach around 5inch and 2 corries 2 mollies 3 neon tetras 3 rummynose tetras and 3 glowlight tetras!
anyway! i did a water teat everything was fine! no ammonia.nitrite. nitrate around 10 and ph levels 7.2.
i went to the pet shop for some more rummynoses! i asked and was charged for 4 but when i got home i had 8!! so i introduced them in the normal manner bit by bit!
the next day i get home from work. 3 are dead aswell as 2 of of original tetras! so i do a water change straight away around %15 and just hope it was stress and the fact that my original stock is well over a year old!
the next day i get in from work i have a total wipe out!! only the clown loaches.corries and mollies are left 0-o 2 tetras and 2 glow lights still alive but clearly on there way out! all the fish look absolutly fine in health (other than there dead) so no visable signs as to why they died bu the 2 glow lights tha tare now nearly dead look alittle cloudy!
im realy gutted and dont know what to do!
any help would be appretiated!

have u tested since this happend if not please do it now and post the results, that way we`ll have a better idea f whats going on in there

Your tanks abit on the overstocked side.

Was there enough aeration in the tank.
Could any toxins gotten into the tank.

all dead fish have shown no signs at all. wich is realy confusing!! i noticed on 2 glowlights b4 they died they were pretty gray almost like a whire fur around them!! but only on 2 and another fish had its tail fin all warn away like something had a pop at it or it had signs of fin rot! but only on 1 fish

It could be columnaris them. A bad strain can wipe a day out in aday.
Were the patches a greyish white and look fluffy.

i have 2 mollies and a corie left out of a full healthy tank just over a week ago!!!
i know its a matter of time b4 the rest is dead" so whats the next step?

i have looked at the website u posted and altho a few fish showed little signs of flexibacter the other clownloaches that died tonight show no signs at all"

You need to treat for columnaris.
United states maracyn one and two.
UK Myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.

COLUMNARIS
The hospital tank should be heated to approx. 74 degrees. 76 and above is the ideal breeding temperature for columnaris. Though there is some dispute over lowering the temperature, my experience has been that 72 is too low for the medication to work rapidly, 76+ causes the disease to breed more rapidly than the anti-biotic can kill, and 74 is "just right." Remember to keep this temperature stable!

hi all,
i am just setting up a quarantine tank but struglin to remember the cycle process!
its only a small tank with heater and filter, the waer i have taken half out of an establishes tank in the bedroom thats fine with good water readings and half treated tap water! its been set up for 3 days now and the readings are as follow!

Ammonia 1
Nitrites 0
nitrates 40 ish
ph 7.6
temp 26

are these readings about right? i cant remember if ammonia is part of the cycling process,
also are there anymore hints i could use for a quarantine tank
thank you!

You can run the filter in the main tank so its ready for when you need to use it in the hospital tank.
Or just take some mature filter sponge from main tank.
