ok tank is a fully planted 37. i am increasing filtration with a cascade 1000. Being a planted tank, all stats are closely monnitored twice a week to keep consistancy. Fish that will be housed....

1 school of 6 rainbows (mixed) 2 irians, 1 parki, others undecided
3 yo yo loaches
1 rubbernose plec 1 BN
1 rainbow shark

What im wanting to add is 3 koohli loaches, they just fascinate me for some reason at the lfs's and want some. The tank will be upgraded in 8 months to a year to a 55 probably or a 60g tub. Does anyone see anything wrong with adding the other 3 loaches?

What are the dimensions? How mature is the tank? How long has it been stocked at that level? Are the fish still growing?

What are the adult sizes of the fish?

My first response is that you are already heavy on bottom feeding fish, and some of them are considered to be a little dirty.

IMO, you can only go so far with stocking...water changes and filtration can keep your stats good, but fish still need space to swim decent distances, hide, territories etc.
Am no shark expert, but they're pretty active and surely they need a decent length of aquarium ?

Personally, I would think 3 or so khulis would be fine (as far as stock level is concerned)

They are primarily nocturnal, and will be hiding most of the time.

However, I am not sure of the nature of rainbow sharks. I know RTBS can get mean sometimes, and not sure if rainbows are the same.

If you were to go ahead with the mixture, I would simply suggest you make sure there are enouhg hiding places for all the different fish under wood/oranments.

Oh, and about the inch per gallon rule in relation to your situation: it is only meant to apply to smaller fish under 3 inches.... and that applies to none of your fish.

EDIT: Is that 37 litres, or 37 gallons??? If it is litres then pretty much all my suggestions can go out the window..
EDIT: EDIT: never mind, i see it is gallons....

The "footprint" of the tank is considered to be important. Also the surface exposed to air is important. With so many bottom fish the footprint should be considered. How much space will they have?
