hi ive got a 150 litre densely planted with lots of hiding places
my stocking plan is
8 rummy nose tetra
3 neon tetra
5 peppered corydoras
pair dwarf gourami
3 small angelfish
3 small clown loaches
4 kuhli loaches

please share your comments and ideas about this setup?

im looking for about 2 or 3 yellow/gold fish to add im thinking golden gouramis or golden dwarf cichlid
any ideas about these?
any yellow/gold fish you can think of?

Thanx for replies :fun:

8 rummy nose tetra :good:
3 neon tetra - up theese to 8 as well
5 peppered corydoras :good: but could add more
pair dwarf gourami - make sure they are both female to avoid conflicts with males
3 small angelfish - small angel fish dont stay small long, how tall is the tank potentially okay though
3 small clown loaches - too big for tank as adults need a much bigger tank than you can provide at present, but an alternative would be something like zebra loaches or chain loaches in a group of about 5 or 6
4 kuhli loaches :good:

As for yellow fish you could maybe get a gold angel? Or instead of the dwarf gourami get honey gourami?

Definite no on the clown loaches. Be aware of agression between the angels.
Also neons and angels aren't the best mix as angels can eat see the neons as a food source.
Also neons need to be in a larger group than that.
Kuhli loache would be bettered in a larger group of say 7.
I certainly wouldn't add anymore gouramis to the mix.

If you were willing then how about...
8 rummy nose tetra
6 Gold barbs (extremely tight shoaling barbs and a lovely bright gold/yellow colour)
5 peppered corydoras
2 dwarf gouramis
2 small angelfish
7 kuhli loaches

I would suggest going with a stocking like the one I mentioned above and allowing all the fish to mature together for atleast 6months. This will give you a chance to find out if you can keep up with water changes and get a feel for if the fish are happy together.

Wills Honey gouramis in a tank so big would practically get lost.

Also a pair of dwarf males would be ok with that amount of space.

thanks the tank is 45 cm high 120 long and when the clown loaches are big enough i will move them to my 500 litre tank
new list
8 rummys
5 peppered corydoras
1 female 1 male dwarf gouramis
3 angle fish
3 clown loaches
5 kuhli loaches
2 female golden dwarf cichlids(nannacara anomala)

so is compatibility and everything right now?
could i add any more species if i can what would be a great idea
?

Ah okay so its like a long 40g tank, if you want to add the clowns to grow them on a 4 foot tank is okay IMO they do grow slow but just be ready with the upgrade around 5-7 inches. Also have 5 clowns not 3 because they like bigger numbers.

I dont think Nannacaras will work in that tank with zippy fish like cories and big fish like angels in the tank they will be very very shy all the time. How about a trio of apistogramma panduro? The females are bright yellow and black like panda markings.

okay thought it over and

8 rummy nose tetra
2 dwarf gourami(male and female)
3 angelfish
5 peppered corydoras
3 clown loaches
4 kuhli loaches
4 dwarf/chain loaches
2 bolivian rams
2 bristle nose catfish (albino and normal)
1 honey gourami

on the above list #6 where i said i thought it over using :good: yes and  no or :/ if there is a problem or risk or condition . would be great thanks

if  or :/ appears if you could explain down the bottom would be great

My two main thoughts are overstocked and bottom heavy.

Top swimming fish

Top-Middle
2 dwarf gourami
1 honey gourami - Lovely fish but personally I reckon it wont really add anything to a tank that size next to the other fish. It'll simply add to an already high bioload.

Middle
3 angelfish - Could have agression issues particularly if two pair up, however it should be big enough so that's not a big worry, just a 'bare in mind'

Middle - bottom
8 rummy nose tetra - In a tank that size this is a very small shoal, if that's what you like then fine. But I had 13 in my 125l tank and so if I were in your position I would have at least 15 (however you don't have room for that many at the mo)

Bottom
5 peppered corydoras
3 clown loaches
4 kuhli loaches
4 dwarf/chain loaches
2 bolivian rams
2 bristle nose catfish

^^ As you can see the bottom of your tank is extremely crowded. Not good. I would suggest cutting it down to 3/4 types of bottom dwellers and upping the numbers ever so slightly. For example you have 3 types of loaches listed, how about just keeping 2 types and upping the numbers. All the loaches you listed appreciate large groups and it's the only way to see their true and funny behaviours.
Same goes for the others really.

Eitherways you need to cut down on fish numbers. I know the clown loaches will be temporary but I allowed for them to get to around 4" in my estimation of stocking levels.

the edited fish

15 rummys
take away dwarf chain loaches and rams
5 clown loaches
7 kuhli

ideas for new middle dweller and surface dweller

Top

Top-Middle
2 dwarf gourami(male and female)
1 honey gourami

Middle
3 angelfish

Bottom middle
15 rummy nose tetra

Bottom
5 peppered corydoras
5 clown loaches
7 kuhli loaches
2 bristle nose catfish

It's more overstocked than before, need to cut down on fish.
Ides for top dwellers though...many livebearers, killifish, hatchetfish, african butterfly fish

how about

Top-Middle
2 dwarf gourami(male and female)
1 honey gourami
3 dwarf hatchets

Middle
3 angelfish
1 keyhole cichlid

Bottom middle
10 rummy nose tetra

Bottom
5 peppered corydoras
7 kuhli loaches
2 bristle nose catfish

i can put the clowns straight in to my 500 gallon aquarium

well not sure about keyhole cichlid how would he go
i could take him out or the hatchets or both
but the rest i want to keep or even lessen numbers
