Hi, I nearly lost quite a few fish the other day as my congo's were just about swimming (looking like they're about to die) on the gravel and my parrot fish was resting on my bogwood. my peppered corys were also rubbing. The week before i also lost 5 angels and only had one survive. I've now added some methylene blue but i'm unsure if i need to add more than the one treatment as i don't know what the problem was in the first place. It says to add another dose after 4 days but its been 4 days tomorrow and the water is still pretty blue. It's not whitespot. :/

Need to no first tank size in gallons, how many fish and which type, water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, if they are rubbing could be a parasite, have to look at water stats first, any sign of red inflamed gills or pale, and heavy rapid breathing, any yellow or gold dusting to them, even with velvet they can get a rust colour as well.

ok its a 180 litre tank (45 gallon). I have a featherfin syno, 4 congo tetra, parrot fish, 4 corys and 2 angels.

My water tests all come out at zero and my PH is at something like 7.2.

I noticed like one of my congo's and one of my corys that died earlier had slightly red gills but i didn't know HOW red they had to be to show a sign of something being wrong.

Red inflamed gills can be gill flukes methylene blue is meant to treat gill flukes i think, very hard to get rid off at times.

ok so if you were me would you treat again tomorrow with methylene blue?

Is it ok to still add another dose even if my water is still pretty blue?

Never used it, isn't it one dose for seven days,i think i would do a water change, put carbon in and maybe get a better med for gill flukes, what does it say in the instructions if you have to redose, does it say do a large water change then redose.

no all it says is redose every 4 days while problems persist.

its just i added a dose to my small 2 foot tank on the same day and all of the blue has gone from that tank BUT my 'see through' guppies still have very red gills so i might add more tomorrow. thats why i don't get why my big tank is still SOOO blue!

If you want to carry on with the med follow the instruction very carefully, good look.

ok but what i'm saying is IF i decide to add more it will be 4 days tomorrow. its just that the water still hasn't cleared yet.
