My 10 gal betta tank has finally finished cycling - well nearly, another day or so should see the nitrites down to 0 - at the moment they're 0.20 :D My betta promptly celebrated by building a bubble nest  , chasing the zebra danios away, nipping the tail of one of them and generally misbehaving ;) I've now moved the danios to the community tank and they're much happier there. Lucky, the betta, is alone in his 10 gal, diligently building his nest for nothing  :( Should I introduce a female or just leave him. I have a female in the community tank, but she's getting on in years - she must be over 2 years old now and I think maybe too old for this youngster that I've got. :look: Should I get him a younger mate or just leave him to carry on alone? :S

Come on you lot - answer me somebody :p Do I have to add a female, if so, what about the old maid I have in my community tank, or do I buy one?

You don't have to add a female.

But, why not try your old female and see what happens - if she seems to be getting too hard a time then you can allways move her back to the community tank.

:)

;) If you add a female gad, she'll need to be ready to breed i.e. full of eggs or the male will knock hell out of her. Condition your female with live foods until she is fat and full of eggs and remove her immediately after spawning. Mac.
