Tank Film

Is it normal for a thin film to be in top of the water? i just did a 25% water change and cleaned the tank. i notest that looking up from the bottom of the tank to the top when i touched the top of the water you could see a thin film on top like a thin layer of oils. what was that??

Oily films can be caused by over feeding and the film is made up of the excess protein. It can also be caused by lack of surface agitation. To get rid of it increase the water movement near the surface.

What fish are in the tank? Male Bettas make bubble nests using oil which causes that as well as what Mikaila said
