two of my bettas are in "betta bowls" and i need to get them out of there and into nice homes. im wanting to divide a 5.5 gallon in half but dont want to pay big bucks for something just because its labeled "aquarium divider". plus im not even sure iv ever seen one for such a small tank. any thoughts? so far the best idea iv come up with is to measure the inside width and depth and have a local glass repair shop cut me a piece to fit and then just silicone it in place. the problem with that is that it'd have to not be clear glass - otherwise the bettas would just keep going at each other. and im not sure if any "solid" glass sold is gona be aquarium safe. so what can i do?

I don't know if you're in the US, but I've found small pieces of acrylic sheets at the Home Depot near me. I've bought one before to make a lid for a small octagon tank I used to have. It was a rectangular piece, but I was able to cut it easily with the cut wheel on my Dremel. After cutting a piece to fit, I would sand the sheet to give it a frosted look before silicon-ing it into place as a divider.

If you are UK based, pop down to your local Hobbycraft shop and buy a piece of the cream coloured plastic sheet that have the tiny square holes in. This stuff is perfect as a tank divider where you want water circulation through, its flexible too so you can easily fit it without leaving gaps, cuts easily with scissors and its dirt cheap.

Hope this helps.

Similar craft sheets are available in the US for almost nothing and as stated they can be easily cut and shaped.
