Hi all, my fish tank cracked from top to bottom at 2a.m. need help to relocate the fish. this is the second tank to break in two years and i really cant cope with this happening again. Is there any-one in the Bexhill or Hastings area (East Sussex) who can take my fish? Of course with it being sunday none of the local shops are open except for pets at home and i cant see them being much help. dont want them to die, we have a catfish that is at least 15 years old, please help. Also you would be welcome to what is left of my setup including an external filter and a fluval4.
Pete

Ime too far but if you get stuck you can use plastic storage boxes as a tempory tank untill the shops open

You just need one of those plastic storage boxes with a lid. They sell them in supermarkets like tesco and asda. Pop in your heater and filter but watch the temp if it's much smaller than your tank. You may have to set the temp lower if it's a big heater

Thanks for advice, storage box a good idea but not a long term solution, and am worry'd it could happen again. the first tank went at a seam, so replaced with a modern one with thick glass and curved front corners and that has cracked the glass at one end from top to bottom i have no idea why.

If you do keep in the hobby Juwel tanks are very well made :good:

Have been and bought a second hand set-up, and as it happens it is juwel tank, with a stand. I think the stand on the old one might have been the problem as it was bowed in the middle, also have noticed how much the floor moves as we move about the house, so that probably didn't help. hope the new tank holds as not much i can do about the floor!

Hopefully it will all be ok for you

My fish lived in a large white bucket for a couple of days once when we hade a new wooden floor fitted, just so I only had to drain down the 180l tank once. Had to move the tank to middle of room, wooden floor fitted where tank was, left day or two for glue to dry and put tank back.

I put a large plastic plant, heater and air line in the fish bucket and all the fish seemed no the worse for wear a couple of days later. Put live plants in a bowl by a window as well.

I also put clingfilm over the bucket as we had a couple of attempted jumpers !!!
