Tank Cleaning

my tank has been up for 2 months now...i do weekly water changes....should i gravel vac yet? or change my blue sponge filter in my fluval 405? I was told i was going to have to do this eventually but not for a few months after my fish in cycle....? Im just unsure of the maintenance i have to do now... or how often...?

If your tank is cycled and you have fish in it you should do a weekly water change of 30% and gravel vac each time.

No need to change your sponges in your filter they should last for years and only need cleaning approx once a month by rinsing them out lightly in tank water you have syphoned off - never ever run them under the tap or you will kill all your good bacteria and you will need to go through the cycling process all over again.

If your filter ever slows down you may need to lightly rinse the gunge out of your sponges if they are clogged but other than that as above.
