Tank All Set Up

FINALLY got my tank set up and going to start my cycle in a few days. Couple of questions though-

1. I got the Hydor Airo. It kinda makes a bit of noise (prob too much for me to sleep with it on) but will that improve once I get more gravel? Ive realised I don't have nearly enough so when I do my final water change I'm gonna have to add a load more along with the plants. It said in the instructions something about noise and it being too close to the glass so will that get better? If not I can see me only have that on in the day lol.

2. Silly question but is the light alright with all that water splashing around it?

3. My filter doesn't exactly give out bubbles, I can see the water rippling but no bubbles. Is that normal?

It's a bit cloudy right now but I guess that's normal seeing as it's all only been running about 20 mins lol. I can see me getting rid of the free rock that came with the tank. Doesn't really go with the natual underwater hideawy look I'm going for

oops sorry missed your post.

the hydor air is very noisy. i would suggest too noisy to be used (for most fish). i got one, it's been in a bin since i first tried it. no it will not get better/quieter, probably the opposite. I've tried it all over the tank. it gets a bit quieter for me, but still scares the poo out of the fish, still.

providing you have proper, well fitting, leads. the tube will be fine. you will need to clean it,(the tube) every so often thorough.

most of us would be worried if bubbles come out of our filters. but ripples will give better "aeration" anyway. so i would say you are fine.

as for the bits being spat out by it (from another thread) i would guess its muck from the gravel. not totally sure on that though.

Hi! Thanks. Yeah I can the Hydor going, bleeping thing. The bubbles aren't even nice bubbles. Really these things are of no use to the fish anyway are they? I think it's that spitting out the dust too so that's another problem solved. It may well be off to ebay lol

Tough others may have differing views, that's just what i would do with it. after all, its not big enough for a door stop.

LOl no! I think the colour ones are prob nice in kids nano tanks but that's about it.

actual, i've been thinking of doing a recording. with and without the hydor pump. just need to find out how to make a hydrophone! lol, probably much easer that i think.
