so midway through my daily baby fish check (i have livebearers and find the odd new addition every so often) , i came across this wee guy swimming near top of my tank, at first i thought it might be another molly but quickly realised it wasnt, bronze corys have laid eggs about 3 times in last 7 weeks and each time i've managed to remove the eggs and put them in different tank so this one must have been from about 7 weeks ago and from a stray egg i missed.

i am quite impressed he survived so long and got this size, i struggle to even raise the fry so maybe the solution is to leave all the eggs in my community tank :D

he's now in a fry trap on his own being

wow ... you lucky thing!!

I have 2 eggs in a breeder net at present, which I think may be from my bronze's. I'm hoping to be posting a similar picture soon!

Cracking looking fish - it deserves to survive. Courtesy of its markings and the look in its eye, it seems to me that it's saying, "I've survived this far - mess with me and you got trouble!!!"

Certainly looks like he/she is doing well - congratulations.

i've been lucky enough to have my cory's spawn alot so its been trial and error with me and hatching/raising fry. i dont know what type of breeder net you have but the fry might be small enough to slip through the holes in net, my 3 week old fry are still small enough to fit through the gaps in the plastic fry traps. i had mine in a tupperware container with airstone in it for first couple of weeks.

good luck with the eggs :D

yeah he/she is pretty , i put it in the breeder net with some molly fry which were few weeks old but they starting nipping him so i've moved him into a plastic fry trap all on his own and he's getting spoilt with microworms all day

The lucky so and so!!!! Here's hoping that he/she grows to be a happy thriving fish.
Well done Frank, look after it and I take my hat off to you and all the rest of you who have successfully raised their broods.

Regards

David

Thanks. I have been wondering about moving the 2 eggs today into a tupperware box - more so I can keep an eye on them. Where they are now they are pretty invisable. This is my first attempt so I've only the posts on here to guide me.

Does the tupperware need a heater? or is it just the airstone it needs?

i floated the tupperware box on the surface of my water of my tank, for 2 eggs you wont need a big box and i only put the airstone in after about a week. one thing i will say is feed them microworms and not the liquifry stuff as it pollutes the water and can make the fry mouldy

i have 3 sets of eggs/fry just now,

- unhatched eggs in small tupperware box on surface of water with only tank water and methyl blue added, Daily water change
-2 week old fry in a tupperware box with airstone in it floating on surface of my tank, Daily water change
- 4 week old fry in plastic fry trap thing in tank

ok thought i would give update on this, since i let him loose into a grow out tank he has thrived and seems to be growing fast!! heres a few pics of him with his brothers and sisters :)
