Is bird flu back?
The UK has been dealing with bird flu since December 2021. It had affected mainly poultry farms but as a result anyone with caged birds (parrots, budgies etc) were not allowed to let them out of their cages and wild bird feeders etc were also not allowed

The ban on feeders etc will be lifted as of May 1st this year subject to regular review. The last outbreak recorded was in February 2022 in a poultry farm in Norfolk.

That's why free range eggs haven't been available for the last 6 months as the chickens had to be kept indoors and the eggs labelled barn eggs. Free range should be back in the supermarket in May.

We stopped putting out bird feeders a year or two ago. We now have squirrels coming into the garden, and the wood pigeons worked out how to empty the feeders. They fluttered next to the feeder and hit it with their feet repeatedly causing the feeder to swing so the food fell out then the wood pigeons could eat it off the ground. I had positioned the feeders so carefully where the wood pigeons couldn't perch to get their beaks in, but they found a way. I didn't think they were that intelligent

Our friends have a bunch of those and they poke holes in the house supports and stick acorns into the holes
