hey

i was just thinking last night should i run any substrate in my sump ?

i have an overflow on the side of my tank wich then filters the water into my sum where it gets skimmed and pumped back, theres only the skimmer and 2 heaters and the return pump and some caulerpa, shoud i put substrate in there or maybe live rock pieces for extra filtering ? we dont have live sand in SA or nowhere can i find it,only crushed coral and aragonite..

thanks

aragonite sand is better than sand seeing how you dont waste your money for a very very small amount of life that you already have from your live rock... I wouldnt get sand since bare bottoms are easier to clean and most detritus falls into the sump, but i would get live rock for some more pod hideouts and nitrification.

agreed, barebottom and LR. If you want to, you can run a remote DSB off the sump, but it's not necessary
